Welcome to the Family blog.
Please let me know that you were here. If you set up an account and want to make a post to the blog, fire away. If you want to customize the blog with links and pictures and stuff, go right ahead. If you have suggestions and would like me to do it, let me know.
I really hope people get into this. It will take a little time and effort, but if everyone puts in a little effort, I think we will all be rewarded as we learn more about one another. If you've never done anything like this before, it might seem daunting, but I promise it is quite easy.

Yeah....I am sop excited to start doing this with the fam!!!
Where do I start!! First Congratulations, Elizabeth on being accepted at Georgia Tech...but I had no doubt you would be...Go Elizabeth :) Second, Congratulations to Chelsea and Shawn on your Engagement and upcoming marriage! Wow, can I have a Grand-daughter old enough to get married! Obviously I do :) How exciting for the young couple starting new lives together!
Third, we just got back from the Kentucky Derby where I netted $100 a day on my excellent choices :) Since I only bet $2 per race...my profits were overwhelming! How fun, and we made the trip back home in 6 hours and 10 minutes...no cracker barrell stops made that possible :)Thanks for the sandwiches, Pat :)
Elizabeth, congratulations on your $17 win on picking the horse that came in second and giving me the idea of chosing the same horse to come in second...on an exacta pick teamed with Street Sense (Winner of the Ky.Derby for 2007)..I owe you lunch when you get back stateside, Elizabeth...and I will be so happy to pick up that lunch tab :)(the biggest reason will be that you are back home !:)
It was exciting meeting Heather, Nephew Sean Bannon's new love. :) Impressive young woman! It was exciting hearing that Nephew Thomas and Shannon are having a new baby boy in August to go along with 2 year old adorable Clare :) She will be a wonderful Big Sis :)Neice Erin has a new baby boy on the way and Mikaela and Zachery are excited about a baby brother!
It was great having Pat attend the Oaks with us...What a fun sister-in-law! :)Who also picked the winner of the Derby! Go Pat! What fun having dinner 2 nights in a row with Ray, Cathy and family (always such a treat family get-to-gether) We missed Cathy and family being with us at the Derby & Tonja and family (especially since Oaks Day (May 4 Grandson Mayfield turned 14, and Grandson Forest turned 12...brothers sharing the same birthday :)being unfortunate enough to be born on Derby weekend and their Grandparents going to the Derby on their special day :( We missed you, Brad and Elizabeth too, but the phone call from India was thrilling for this Mom :)Everyone had received a card from you and they all were proud to show them off...Go, Brad :)
A moment in time spent with Nephew, Sean Peterson was a nice highlight for us too :) We'll do lunch soon, Sean (and Danielle)That will be great!
Andy, we always enjoy time with you and you are so accommodating in everything you do for us :) Thanks, Andy! Pat, your Bed & Breakfast exceeds all hospitality! What would we do without you! Brenda, we could not even go to the Derby without you and all your knowledge of Louisville and Churchill Downs..Thanks, Brenda, you make it much more fun, and give our regards to Dana. She was fun to have along :)A neat friend!
Caylyn, Gram was sorry to come home and find you feeling under a 'rock' after chemo. Tomorrow I will kiss your ill away, and hope to get a kiss from you, brother Evan and 'fweet'baby Cole :) I hope the family blog holds all this! Our next excitement will be Sandy, Brian, Chelsea, Shawn, Chantel, Tyler, Camille, and Nona coming for a July visit! Beach here we come! Mom/a.norma aka Gram
oh goodness....I asked Dad to read the entry and said "Did I leave anyone out? and he sheepishly said.."me"...last but certainly NOT least...I am so glad I married a Kentucky boy so he would take me to the Kentucky derby and help create the family tradition with all our children loving the Derby excitment since they started attending it. Cathy at age 2, blazing the trail for her siblings by picking winners right away! Tonja at age 8 mo.who wore her first Derby hat that year, and has continued the lovely tradition. Brad (being born April 28 caused the only missed Derby, but attended with us the following year at age one..That's ok, Brad, since you were born on a Monday and the Derby was Sat.May 5...I just decided we should watch it on TV that year! A wonderful choice! :) I pride myself in being pioneer woman, but even I didn't want to go to that Derby! I felt like I had already won anyway because we NEEDED a boy in this family! back to Dad...he won both days this year also..so we both had a great 2 days. I like his last race "bet" best..which we watched from a box seat in the celebrities section. He put an exacta on the 5/4 horse (in honor of the May 4 birthdays for Mayfield and Forest and won them $14 apiece. Go Gramps! and thanks for ALL you do for your family...Your greatest Fan, Me!
